Project: GMC Sierra NFL Edition - Concept show vehicle

2006 SEMA Show, Las Vegas

Lead Designer

An NFL tailgate party is a very exciting experience. Enhancing this excitement by adding a Sierra pickup truck with a very modern and unique BBQ installation was the goal of the design team. While the tonneau opens up and slides the flat screen in vertical position, a table made of wood, selected for its peculiar grain and stained dark blue, slides out creating the serving area. The table surface has laser cut stainless steel inserts, mimicking the lines on the football field.

Next, a stainless steel box slides out halfway off the table, containing a BBQ grill, made of billet aluminum and including the NFL logo, a blond

wood cutting board, contrasting with the silver metal surrounding it, and an ice box, ready to cool those beer bottles and soda cans. The lids have double walls, corrugated aluminum inside and perforated steel outside. All hardware, like bolts, springs and wheels, is hidden, leaving exposed just a number of bolts to enhance the styling. The interior was completely reupholstered using the same leather used for the official NFL balls, and original lacing panels. In Las Vegas, the GMC Sierra NFL Edition attracted a good crowd at the SEMA Show and represented a very effective advertisement for the newly introduced GMC model.
